How To Find Us

The Vinalhaven Historical Society is easy to find:

     From the
Maine State Ferry Service terminal, bear right out of the parking lot and walk alongside Carver's Harbor for .2 mile. Take your first left, High Street, and walk up to the crest of the hill. As you crest the hill, the Historical Society [41 High St.] will be on your right.

Parking is very limited in front of the building; however, the Town Office has ample parking for visitors. To park at the Town Office follow directions above to High Street.  On High Street take second right onto Summer Street, and then take the first left onto Washington School Road.  Follow this to the end.  There is a walkway directly up to the Museum.

Vinalhaven is served by two ferries, The Captain Charles Philbrook and the Gov. Curtis. The two ferries depart simultaneously from terminals in Rockland and Vinalhaven. Crossing time is 1 hour 15 minutes.
