Vinalhaven Historical Society

Vinalhaven is served by two ferries: The Capt. Charles Philbrook and The E. Frank Thompson.  The two depart simultaneously from terminals in Rockland and Vinalhaven.  Crossing time is 1 hour 15 minutes.

Please visit the Maine State Ferry Service website for departure times and current rates.

The Museum is easy to find - From the Maine State Ferry Service, bear right out of the parking lot and go alongside Carver's Harbor for .2 miles.  Take the first left, High Street, and come to the crest of the hill.  The Historical Society, 41 High Street, will be on the right.
It has been brought to our attention that Google Maps does NOT give an accurate pinpoint of our location.  If viewing Vinalhaven on Google Maps, we are located at the intersection of Mountain St. and High St.

Parking is very limited in front of the building; however the Town Office has ample parking for visitors.  To park at the Town Office follow the directions above to High Street.  On High Street take your second right onto Summer Street, and then take the first left onto Washington School Road.  Follow this to its end.  There is a walkway directly up to the Museum.
